DHAKA, Bangladesh – On Friday, a train collided with a microbus at a level crossing in Chattogram’s Mirsharai Upazila, killing at least 11 people.

At around 1.30 pm Friday, the collision occurred at an unmanned level crossing near Bara Takia railway station.

According to witnesses, the Chittagong-bound Mahanagar Provati express rammed into the microbus, dragging it hundreds of meters down the railway track. Chattogram is also known as Chittagong.

“The identities of the deceased, all of whom were passengers on the microbus, have yet to be confirmed. Mirsharai police station officer-in-charge Kabir Hossain said.

“All of them were tourists on their way to Mirsharai’s Khoiyachora waterfall,” he added.
