CENTRAL WEST, NSW, Australia – Orange in the New South Wales Central West is experiencing a series of home invasions, with three having occurred in just over a week.
The latest reported was on Sunday night about 8:00pm when two masked men forced their way into a home on McLachlan Street at Orange where they confronted a 24-year-old man who lived at the house.
The men threatened the man while demanding money and property, before assaulting him with a pole.
Police were told the men stole numerous items from around the house before forcing the 24-year old man into his vehicle at knife-point and driving him to a nearby bank.
It is believed the man escaped from the vehicle at the intersection of Summer Street and Lords Place in Orange, and sought refuge in a vehicle being driven nearby.
The men then went to the Orange Police Station to report the incident.
Officers attached to Central West Police District established a crime scene at the McLachlan Street home and seized various items for forensic examination.
Police are appealing for the public’s assistance to locate the two men.
One man has been described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander in appearance, less than 180cm tall, around 78kg, and was last seen wearing a blue NSW rugby hooded jumper and red bandana across his face.
The second man was also described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, taller and of a more solid build than the first, last seen wearing a red hooded jumper and a black bandana across his face.
Investigators are appealing for anyone who noticed suspicious activity in the area around the time of the incident to contact police.
