US Army announced 24-hour grounding of helicopters after fatal crashes

May 7, 2023

WASHINGTON D.C.: After two recent helicopter crashes killed 12 soldiers, the US Army has ordered its aviation units to pause operations for 24 hours in June to review safety procedures and training.

In a statement, the Army said that until the completion of required training, the move will cover all air personnel, except those involved in critical missions.

Last week, two Apache helicopters collided in Alaska, killing three US Army pilots, while last month in Kentucky, nine soldiers were killed in a crash of two Black Hawk helicopters during a training mission.
