LONDON, England: Internet watchdog NetBlocks has said that an ice storm in Michigan disrupted internet services and affected local power lines.
A major winter storm has sent high winds and heavy snow surging across the Northern Plains and Upper Midwest, forcing school closures, grounding flights and affecting road travel.
According to Poweroutage.us, high winds and freezing rains in Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, and New York left some 900,000 homes and businesses without power.
Xfinity cable service provider Comcast Corp said that to provide a temporary solution until power is fully restored, it has deployed 900 generators across Michigan.
As the storm moved through a wide swath of the western and northern US and into the East mid-week, more than 50 million Americans were placed under winter weather advisories.
